The Department of Natural Resources says a Talbot County man’s oyster license was revoked following the latest in string of violations. DNR officials said that 45-year-old Edward Lowery Jr. of Tilghman has been convicted more than 30 times of natural resources violations, including using a power dredge in an area reserved for hand tonging. DNR officials say the department has increased enforcement as part of a new effort to expand oyster sanctuaries and aquaculture. DNR says it has suspended or revoked six commercial fishing licenses this year for oyster violations and is awaiting decisions in three additional suspension cases.
