Mature Woman’s Grant Recipients Honored

009 2009 awardees aauw (400 x 300)At the fall “Salad Daze” meeting of the Easton Branch of AAUW (American Association of University Women) three of the four Mature Woman’s Grant recipients were honored.  The purpose of this grant is to assist women who are returning to complete their college education, pursuing further graduate studies, or applying for a certificate program to enter a new career path and would benefit from some extra financial assistance in accomplishing this goal.  This is the fifth year that grants have been awarded to women who are residents of the counties of Caroline, Dorchester, Kent, Queen Anne’s or Talbot counties, and are over 25 years of age.

The 2009 recipients of a $500 grant were Marci Leach, enrolled in the University of South Dakota’s Master of Arts in Educational Administration Program; Anne Holly Miller, enrolled at Salisbury University, completing a Master of Science Mathematics Education degree; Desiree S. Cabotaje-Rochester, enrolled at Salisbury University’s in the Social Work Program and Amy Lemich-McNabb, enrolled at Chesapeake College, working toward a degree in Ethnomusicology.

Application for the 2010 grant will be available in April, 2010 at local libraries in the five-county region, at Chesapeake College and Salisbury University, or electronically by request at aauwgrant@goeaston.net.
