Your life history is fuller and richer than you might think. It is the process of starting to recall memories and events that eventually brings people to the realization that their life has been more than they imagined. While many people have thought about writing down their history to share with the generations, it is often hard to just get started. Writer Joan Katz invites students to start the process now of recording your memories and telling the story of your life through photographs, keepsakes, and private and public data. In a one-day workshop, participants will have the opportunity to work together sharing the pleasures and challenges of organizing and writing your legacy.
This one-day workshop is on Thursday, March 18 from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Ages 18 and older, $45 for Arts Council members and $65 for non-members. The deadline for registration is March 11.
Katz has a B.A. in psychology from the University of New Hampshire, and M.Ed. in guidance and counseling from the University of North Carolina and has done extensive graduate work in American and New England history. She is chair for the curriculum committee of the Academy of Lifelong Learning and on the executive committee of the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum. Her memoir writing workshops have been held with numerous groups including the St. Michaels Community Center and the Dorchester County Library.
