The Memorial Hospital at Easton and the Diagnostic and Imaging Center recently joined Dorchester General Hospital in being awarded accreditation in ultrasound by the American College of Radiology (ACR).
These facilities have voluntarily completed the ACR’s rigorous review process to be sure they meet or exceed the nationally accepted standards for quality assurance and safety guidelines.
The ACR awards accreditation to facilities for the achievement of high practice standards after a peer review evaluation of its practice. Image quality and procedure evaluations are conducted by experts in the field. Personnel qualifications, adequacy of facility equipment, quality control procedures and quality assurance programs are all evaluated.
The ultrasound accreditation program involves the acquisition of clinical images, submission of relevant physician reports corresponding to the clinical images submitted, and quality control documentation.
The Shore Health System ultrasound personnel are well qualified through education and certification by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS). To earn accreditation, a quality control program must be in place for each ultrasound unit in each facility.
Shore Health System offers outpatient diagnostic and imaging services in Easton, Cambridge, Denton and Centreville. For more information, visit www.shorehealth.org/services/radiology or call 410-822-1000, ext. 5678.
