Christine O’Neill is cruising artist. She has traveled extensively throughout the Caribbean, South America and the U.S. Many of her paintings are inspired by the places she has visited. In the early 90’s she was awarded a painting traveling sabbatical for 14 months and painted her way through a 2nd masters degree. Christine currently teaches private and small group painting lessons. Christine is a Signature member of the Baltimore Watercolor Society, a member of the Annapolis Watercolor Club, the American Watercolor Society and Pen Women of America. The effects of light, shadow, & action are the driving forces in of her paintings – whether still life, or from foreign travel and life around the Chesapeake Bay. She now spends her winters sailing & painting in the Bahamas!

Atmospheric color can help create depth in your painting; triadic color compositions can create fun and unusual images; continued use of complimentary colors can give more depth to your paintings; and last but not least we will explore ‘glazing’ with watercolors! Please note: the first session of this class will concentrate on color, ‘real color’ vs. the ‘artist’s color’ and the second session will concentrate on ‘composition’ – pushing the edges. For intermediate to advanced painters.

Exploring Color through Light & Shadow with Christine O’Neill

This 4 week class will be devoted to exploring how color is changed by light and shadow. This will be addressed through complimentary colors, neutrals, whites, monochromatic, etc. How you ‘see’ color helps create much more sophisticated pieces of art. A good knowledge of your choice of medium is necessary for this class. For intermediate to advanced painters.
