Oils Featured at Exploration Center

Award winning artist Tina Williams brings her work and that of her students to the Chesapeake Exploration Center in Chester, Maryland through the end of October. Over thirty works in oil, watercolor, acrylic and pencil are featured, but the emphasis is on the beauty of oil paintings. This is a first-time presentation by the Queen Anne’s County Arts Council at the Chesapeake Exploration Center in cooperation with the Department of Economic Development and Tourism.

Williams has been honing her craft for many years and more recently has brought her knowledge and skills to emerging artists. Many of her students have enjoyed a steady increase in their abilities, while others blossomed immediately, finding their preferred medium in the use of oils. With its long drying time and detail to technique and application, many artists have moved away from oils and moved to acrylic, gouache or watercolor. Williams finds the depth and detail achievable in oil painting, as well as its challenges, her medium of choice. It lends itself beautifully and ethereally to nature and wildlife subjects, which Williams often relies upon for inspiration.

A reception will be held at the Exploration Center, 425 Piney Narrows Road, on Wednesday, October 12 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Refreshments will be served and artwork is available for purchase.
