The Kent Island Branch of the Queen Anne’s County Free Library will host “Read to Rover” on Saturday mornings, March 17 and April 14, beginning at 9:30 a.m.
During “Read to Rover” programs, elementary-school aged children can read a book to Chance, a six-year-old beagle, from the Delmarva Chapter of Pets on Wheels. Chance is owned by Sue Levin, who taught kindergarten for 30 years in Prince George’s County.
Reading with a therapy dog allows students to practice the skill of reading. Children who might be self-conscious when reading aloud in front of others particularly benefit from the relaxed, “dog-friendly” atmosphere.
The programs are free of charge. No registration is required.
