Psychiatrist Featured in Book on Dementia

Psychiatrist Allen Anderson, MD, is a featured author in Treating Dementia: Do We Have a Pill for It? (Johns Hopkins University Press, 2009). This book is a resource for physicians and clinical providers who have a special interest in the use of drugs to treat dementia.

Dr. Anderson is among an internationally recognized group of researchers, clinicians and scholars who have been involved in the study, evaluation and treatment of dementia. In his chapter, “Pharmacologic Treatment of Dementia,” Dr. Anderson describes how he has seen patients benefit from the use of drugs currently available to address dementia.

Dr. Anderson is a member of the Shore Health System medical staff and serves as medical director for Shore Behavioral Health Services. Based at Dorchester General Hospital in Cambridge, Shore Behavioral Health Services offers inpatient and intensive outpatient treatment of adults with acute psychiatric disorders. Dr. Anderson, who is chief of psychiatry for Dorchester General Hospital, is board certified in general, geriatric and forensic psychiatry.
