QA HAM Radio Amateurs Plan for Field Day Exercise

The planning will take place at the club meeting on Tuesday, 4 June at 6-pm at the Queen Anne’s County Free Library, 121 S. Commerce Street, Centreville. Non-club members, club members, and others interested in Field Day operations are invited to the planning session

Club and guest amateur operators plan to operate outdoors for 24 consecutive hours to radio contact other amateurs gathered throughout the USA for the 2013 Field Day exercise. Each year, 35,000 amateur operators participate to practice and improve emergency capabilities and to demonstrate amateur radio to the public. The club will operate from the Bloomfield Farm on Rt. 213 at White Marsh Road using emergency power on June 22 and 23.

Field Day planning includes: site plan, antenna erection, portable power sources, equipment installation, shelter, food, public awareness, Boy Scout merit badge training, and exercise operations. This annual event is one of the highlights of amateur radio.
