INCIDENT: Theft

DATE / TIME: 05/23/2012 @ 1641 Hours

LOCATION: 200 Kent Landing, Stevensville

VICTIM: K-Mart

ARREST: Nicholas Thomas Barnes (32) of Chester

CHARGE: Theft under $1000

NARRATIVE: K-Mart security observed a suspect attempting to steal a pellet rifle by cutting the security sensors from the item. Security also advised the suspect had been taped on 5/19 stealing similar items. Prior to arrival the suspect had left in a black Dodge truck with Virginia plates. Upon running the tag, deputies were familiar with the suspect and knew of a local address. As a result of the investigation, Barnes was charged with the theft of three pellet pistols, a pellet rifle and three packs of BBs having a value of $368.00

On May 29th an arrest warrant was issued for Barnes and the following day he was taken into custody at the Parole & Probation office in Centreville.

VICTIM: QAC Department of Public Works

NARRATIVE: Several areas on picnic tables and pillars on the snack bar had been marked with graffiti with racial comments. Damages were estimated at $250 and occurred sometime between 5/18 and 5/24.

NARRATIVE: Victim reported leaving her IPOD on her desk under a shirt when she left the classroom. Upon returning a short time later her IPOD was gone. The IPOD is valued at $250

INCIDENT: Possession of CDS / Alcohol

DATE / TIME: 05/25/2012 @ 1643 Hours

LOCATION: RT 50 @ Thompson Creek Exit, Stevensville

ARREST: Cristin Jose Reyes (19) of Kensington, MD

Fiorella Karina Montoya (19) of Kensington, MD

CHARGE: Possession of CDS (Marijuana) / Possession of CDS Paraphernalia / Underage Possession of Alcohol

NARRATIVE: A red Dodge passenger car occupied by two persons was stopped by Dfc. House for a minor traffic offense. During the stop, Dfc. House had his K9 scan the car and a positive alert occurred when the K9 was at the trunk area. The occupants of the car admitted that there was a bottle of rum and some marihuana in the trunk. A search of the car also resulted in the seizure of smoking device from the pocketbook of the passenger and 33 unknown prescription pills from the center console. Both subjects were released following the stop. On May 27th both subjects were served a criminal summons for the CDS violations. Montoya also was issued a civil citation for underage possession of alcohol.

INCIDENT: Possession of CDS

DATE / TIME: 05/25/2012 @ 2208 Hours

LOCATION: Pullman’s Crossing Grasonville

ARREST: Pending

Female (50) and Female (52) both of Grasonville

CHARGE: Possession of CDS

NARRATIVE: Dfc. Kellogg saw a black Chevrolet Avalanche in the area and knew the registration was suspended on the truck. She after stopping the truck, Dfc. House arrived and scanned the vehicle with K9 Nero ending with a positive alert. Search of the truck resulted in the seizure of an unmarked bottle of suspected clonazepam, a baggie of suspected Cocaine, a baggie of suspected marijuana and several unidentified pills from the two occupant’s purses. In addition a butcher knife was also located and seized from one of the purses. Subjects were released at the scene pending charges.

LOCATION: 410 Thompson Creek Mall Stevensville

VICTIM: Americantina Restaurant

ARREST: Anthony James Rivera (18) of Stevensville

Male (17) of Stevensville

CHARGE: MDOP

NARRATIVE: A Clerk of a neighboring business reported seeing a white male with a baseball bat smashing the windows of the Americantina Restaurant, then fleeing in a dark passenger car driven by another suspect. A search of the area resulted in locating the car and several suspects parked at a nearby business. A search of the car resulted in the seizure of two baseball bats and a container of beer. Two passengers in the rear seat area reported the suspects had been drinking, drove to the area and the passenger then exited the car and began to smash windows. The passenger a 17 year old had a noticeable laceration to his hand which required EMS and stiches. The juvenile and Rivera admitted to being upset with the business after recently being terminated.

Rivera was issued a citation for possession of alcohol and charged with MDOP. He was later released by a District Court Commissioner. The 17 year old juvenile was released to a parent and referred to Juvenile Justice for MDOP and underage possession. A second juvenile was also issued a citation for underage possession and released to a parent. The forth subject in the car was released without charges. Damages to the business was estimated at $2000.

ARREST: Jerard Robert Petrie (28) of Chestertown

CHARGE: DWI

NARRATIVE: Deputy Neal saw a black Chevrolet pickup flashing it’s high beams several times at on-coming traffic and then turned into the Royal Farms store parking lot. The driver was contacted and advised he did not have his license in his possession. Further inquiry revealed he was suspended. Deputy Neall noticed an odor of alcohol on the driver’s breath when talking with him and requested field sobriety tasks. As a result, Mr. Petrie was placed under arrest for DWI. After being transported to Centreville for processing and charging documents he was released on his signature.

INCIDENT: Found Child

DATE / TIME: 05/26/2012 @ 0809 Hours

LOCATION: 1600 Bayside Drive, Chester

VICTIM: Male (4) of Chester

NARRATIVE: Deputies responded to area after residents located a small child in the yard of an elderly couple and who were not home. The child could only say that his name was Bobby and he parents were sleeping. A canvas of the immediate area was begun by deputies assisted by MSP and KIVFD. After several neighbors suggested a residence on Seward Court, Deputy Harris went to the residence and found an open door. After several attempts to get a response, Deputy Harris entered the home. In a rear bedroom Deputy Harris located the child’s parents asleep. Upon waking them, they advised this wasn’t the first time “Bobby” had slipped out. Child was returned to his parents with Social Services advised for follow-up.

NARRATIVE: Mr. Berrang reported that a Pontiac Trans Am parked in the rear of his lot had been broken into by smashing the window and the rear taillights stolen. Damages were estimated at $200 and the taillights valued at $500.

NARRATIVE: Victim reported that she last used her E-Z pass device on March 22nd and then placed it in her glove compartment. On her recent account activity report she saw that the device had been used seventeen times at the Bay Bridge and seven additional times on the Key Bridge. After reading the statement she checked her car and found the device was missing.

NARRATIVE: Victim reported someone had damaged her 2000 VW “Bug” while it was parked. Damages included keying portions of the car and a tire was slashed. Damages were estimated at $660.

ARREST: Keren Evelyn Funes (36) of Barclay

CHARGE: Driving without Proper Driver’s License

NARRATIVE: A tan GMC Yukon driven by Keren Funes was stopped for having only one operating headlight. Upon checking with MVA, it was found that Funes did not have a driver’s License. She was taken into custody, transported to Sheriff’s Headquarters, processed and taken before a District Court Commissioner who released her on her recognizance.

LOCATION: 100 Block of Station Lane Grasonville

VICTIM: Ashley M. Jackson of Grasonville

NARRATIVE: Victim reported she last saw her orange and black BMX bike laying alongside the chain link dog kennel in the front yard on 5/27 at 1530 hours. She later left the residence and returned at about 2040 hours and the bike was gone. The BMX bike is valued at $50 and had a green rear rim and a red front rim.

NARRATIVE: Family member reported that the victim was walking up and down RT 544, talking to herself, taking numerous showers a day and threatening to harm herself. Victim was located and transported to Chester River Hospital by Patrol Car for treatment.

INCIDENT: DWI Arrest

DATE / TIME: 05/28/2012 @ 0103 Hours

LOCATION: Rolph’s Wharf Road, Chestertown

ARREST: Manly Paul Calhoun (29) of Baltimore

CHARGE: DWI

NARRATIVE: Deputies had been to Ralph’s’ Wharf Marina for a disturbance on the beach. After the call they were still in the area and saw a gray Chevrolet HHR leaving the location at a high rate of speed. The vehicle was stopped on Schrader Road. The driver, Manly Calhoun stated he was upset with his passenger and that he had drinks about an hour ago. After attempting several field sobriety tasks, he was placed under arrest for DWI. Calhoun was issued several citations including DWI and released at the scene to a sober friend.
