QAC Commissioners Willing to Attend Community Association Meetings

The Queen Anne’s County Commissioners are soliciting input from community associations on how best to address projected future deficits. To help facilitate this input, the commissioners are offering to attend neighborhood community association meetings.

Over the past few years, the State of Maryland has transferred significant financial burdens to the counties that greatly impact the ability to provide the services expected of local governments. The reduction/elimination of highway user revenues and other passed along costs including the teacher pension shift combined with decreasing assessments have resulted in estimated budget deficits of $2.47 million for FY14; $7 million for FY 15, and $10.6 million for FY16.

The commissioners feel that citizen input on how to address these deficits is vital to their decision making process and they feel that utilizing forums such as community association meetings is a good way to acquire this input. If your community association is interested in having a county commissioner attend an upcoming meeting please call Margie Houck at 410-758-0322 x2001.
