Queen Anne’s County’s Finance Office Audit Team earned the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting, the highest form of recognition of governmental accounting and financial reporting. This is the 15th consecutive year that Queen Anne’s County has received this award.

The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) used impartial judges who recognized the county’s finance audit team for their “demonstrating a constructive spirit of full disclosure to clearly communicate its financial story…” The Certificate of Achievement is a prestigious national award that recognizes conformance with the highest standards for preparation of state and local government financial reports.

“The preparation of the comprehensive annual financial report was made possible by the dedication and hard work of the entire finance office”, said Jonathan R. Seeman, director of finance. “I want to give special recognition to Nichole Hepfer, who is the principle staff member responsible for the report. The other staff members, including Teresa Ward and James Griffin, also demonstrated tremendous dedication and professionalism. Their hard work has resulted in consistently accurate and transparent financial reporting.”

The GFOA is a national nonprofit professional organization serving about 17,500 government finance professionals.
