Everyone can make a difference. Just ask Mrs. Marsha A. Wilder. She has been an 8th Grade Language Arts teacher at Centreville Middle School since 1983 and has affected the lives of hundreds of students by encouraging their involvement in community service at all levels.

In 1997 Mrs. Wilder began “The Hospice Project” with her 8th grade classes. Each year a cookbook is created and sold with the proceeds going to Hospice of Queen Anne’s. Along with the sale of the cookbooks, a bake sale is held showcasing recipes from the cookbook. This year Mrs. Wilder’s class presented Hospice of Queen Anne’s with a check for $1,746.74. Since 1997 Mrs. Wilder’s 8th grade classes has raised and given an amazing $31,369.74 to HQA.

Mrs. Wilder believes, and teaches her students, that every donation of time, service or money – no matter how large or small – makes a BIG difference in the lives of hospice patients and families.

At this year’s 8th grade graduation, Hospice of Queen Anne’s presented Mrs. Wilder with a Proclamation from the QAC Board of County Commissioners proclaiming June 11th of each year as Mrs. Wilder’s Day at Hospice of Queen Anne’s.
