An exciting concert to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Queen Anne’s Chorale will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2013 at The Todd Performing Arts Center, Chesapeake College, Wye Mills MD. The concert begins at 7:00 p.m.
Entitled “From Stage and Screen”, this gala will include repertoire of beloved medleys from such Broadway and cinema hits as Camelot, My Fair Lady, Paint Your Wagon by legends, Alan Lerner and Frederick Lowe; A Chorus Line by Marvin Hamlisch and Edward Kleban; West Side Story by Leonard Bernstein and Stephen Sondheim, and Broadway Blast with signature pieces by Kirby Shaw. Other Choral selections include “The Impossible Dream”, “Some Enchanted Evening”, “Oklahoma”, “And All That Jazz”. Former singers of the Chorale have been invited to join the group on stage in singing the very inspiring, “You’ll Never Walk Alone” from Carousel by Rodgers and Hammerstein.
To add to this very celebratory occasion, the Chorale is extremely honored to have a special guest soloist, Thomas Beard, join the performance. Mr. Beard is a professional soloist, who has performed as the Baritone for Orff’s Carmina Burana, Handel’s Messiah, Verdi’s Missa da Requiem, the Faure’ Requiem, Pergolesi’s Magnificat, and The Seven Last Words of Christ by Dubois. He has also performed with Opera companies internationally and for numerous dignitaries, including U.S. Senators, Governors, Ambassadors, as well as for former First Lady Laura Bush at the White House.
The Chorale is also fortunate to have Artistic Director, Mr. Robert Huntington, who also celebrates his 10th anniversary conducting the 60+ voice singing ensemble. He states, “It has been my pleasure to be a part of the Queen Anne’s Chorale. It is a wonderful organization that has continued to grow in quantity and quality without losing its sense of camaraderie.” During his tenure with the group, Mr. Huntington has become well known for his creative programming and planned carefully for this very important concert. To complete the concert, he has added a lively condo and developed a retrospective Power Point program that highlights the Chorale’s 25 years.
For the past 12 years, accompanist Cynthia Bidinotto-Slate has added her professionalism to every Chorale concert.
