Queen Anne’s County Announces Kelly Hamilton as the New Chief of Animal Services

Queen Anne’s County announces Kelly Hamilton as the new Chief of Animal Services. Prior to this role she served as the Animal Care Manager. Although Hamilton has only been with the county since January of this year, she brings 20 plus years of experience in veterinary and shelter experience. Hamilton began her career in the private industry with emergency medicine and for the last 9 years she has been specializing in shelter medicine as a high-volume surgery technician and medical manager. She has also served as a Director of Operations and Interim Executive Director for a shelter in Delaware.

“Kelly has many years of experience in veterinary medicine and animal shelters. In her time at Queen Anne County Animal Services, she has shown her dedication to the health and welfare of the shelter animals and staff.  “says, Connie Toulson, Department of Public Works – Animal Services Liaison.

Animal Services was recently restructured to better focus on areas of need in the community. This includes foster, volunteer, outreach, and rescue services. “I have an amazing team in place and am excited to create new relationships within the community. We are looking forward to more community involvement with Animal Services and have plans to enhance services that will be available to our residents.” said Kelly Hamilton, Chief of Animal Services.

Hamilton was born and raised in Westchester County New York, and lived in several states prior to relocating to Delaware 9 years ago. On her days off she enjoys spending time with her family on the water or traveling. Hamilton and her family are also active volunteers with Dover Fire Department.
