CENTREVILLE, MD – The Queen Anne’s County Family YMCA opened its new outdoor pool over July Fourth weekend, expanding the amenities at the new facility in Centreville. The pool marks the latest addition to the full-service community center, which opened in early 2024 and has quickly become a hub for health, recreation, and youth programs in the county.
This summer, the pool will offer a full lineup of activities, including lap swim, swim lessons, youth camp swim time, and open swim for members of all ages.
Swim lessons remain a vital part of the YMCA’s mission to promote water safety—especially in communities like Queen Anne’s County, where proximity to rivers, creeks, and the Chesapeake Bay makes water confidence and basic swim skills an important life skill for children and adults alike. Registration for swim lessons is available at the Welcome Center.
“We’re glad to offer outdoor swimming opportunities to the community,” said Robbie Gill, CEO of the YMCA of the Chesapeake. “This pool is an exciting next step in the continued development of our Centreville location and our efforts to serve the growing needs of Queen Anne’s County residents of all ages.”
The outdoor pool is open to YMCA of the Chesapeake members in good standing and to visiting guests who reside more than 50 miles away. Full details, including pool schedule, swim lessons, pool rules and membership information, are available at the Welcome Center.
