Queen Anne’s County Girl Scouts Will Go Door-to-Door Taking Cookie Orders

cookie sales photo (400 x 440)Queen Anne’s County Girl Scouts will go door-to-door to begin taking orders for Girl Scout Cookies starting Saturday, January 5, 2013. This year local Girl Scouts will offer the six varieties – Thin Mints, Samoas, Tagalongs, Trefoils, Do-si-dos and Savannah Smiles. All Girl Scout Cookies are free of preservatives and have zero trans fats. Cookies are $4.00 per box.

The Girl Scouts of the Chesapeake Bay are also participating in a pilot program to sell a new product, Girl Scout Snack bars. The chewy granola bars come in two flavors, Double Dutch and Tagalongs and are $4.00 per box.

Once again this year, girls will be taking donations of Girl Scout cookies for Operation Taste of Home. The Operation Taste of Home cookies will be donated to our Armed Forces and food banks in Queen Anne’s County. Customers can donate boxes during pre-order sales and at cookie booth sales, which begin in February.

All of the proceeds—every penny—remain in the area where the cookies are sold. This revenue is used to benefit girls, some of it directly by remaining in the Girl Scout troop treasuries, and some of it indirectly by funding Council-led programs for Girl Scouts.

Queen Anne’s County has over 350 Girl Scouts in 49 troops spread across the county and we continue to grow larger. Individuals interested in purchasing Cookies or donating to Operation Taste of Home may call Robin Lansinger at 410-758-5424 or email at troop585@toadmail.com.
