The Queen Anne’s County Historical Society is pleased to announce its upcoming summer exhibition, “Toys Through the Ages,” opening June 6 and on display through the end of August 2026.

This engaging and nostalgic exhibit will explore how children have played, imagined, and learned across generations—featuring a wide variety of toys and games from different time periods, many generously loaned by members of the community.

From simple handmade playthings to beloved classics and more modern favorites, “Toys Through the Ages” offers visitors a unique opportunity to reflect on the role of play in everyday life and how it has evolved over time.

“This exhibit is especially meaningful because it is built from the memories and contributions of our community,” said Exhibit Curators Martha Anthony and Kathleen Shaw. “Each toy tells a story—not just about how children played, but about families, traditions, and the passage of time.”

The exhibit invites visitors of all ages to connect with the past—whether by rediscovering a toy from their own childhood or introducing younger generations to the ways people once played before the digital age.

“Toys Through the Ages” will be on display at Wright’s Chance and Tucker House Museums on S. Commerce Street in Centreville.

The public is invited to visit during regular hours:
First Saturdays from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, and by appointment. Group tours are welcome.
