Queen Anne’s County Man Arrested After Five-hour Manhunt

A five hour manhunt ended when a citizen’s report led Maryland State Police to a 47 year-old Queen Anne’s County man wanted for violating a protective order and holding a knife to his girlfriend’s throat. Michael Allan Lam of the 100 block of East Main St., Sudlersville was taken into custody without incident as he walked along MD Rt. 300. Lam is being held without bond in the Queen Anne’s County Detention Center.

On September 12, an arrest warrant was obtained for Lam charging him with first degree assault, second degree assault, false imprisonment, four counts of violation of a protective/ex parte order and reckless endangerment in connection with an incident involving his girlfriend, Diane Culver. Police had been actively searching for Lam when their investigation led them to a chicken farm located on MD Rt. 313 where the suspect was believed to be working. As police arrived at the farm, Lam fled into a corn field. Shortly before 6:00 p.m., police received a call from a concerned citizen who reported seeing a subject matching the suspect description in the area of MD Rt. 300 and Benton Corner Road. When troopers arrived, Lam was walking along the roadway and was taken into custody without incident.

On September 5, state police arrested Lam and charged him with first degree assault, second degree assault and reckless endangerment after he allegedly assaulted Culver. Lam was released after posting $15,000 bond. On September 7, Maryland State Police assisted Culver in obtaining a protective order against Lam, which was served on Lam. On September 11, Culver reported to police that Lam had entered her house on the previous evening and held a knife to her throat causing injury. Culver stated that she was able to calm Lam down and retrieve the knife from him, but was too fearful to leave the residence until the next morning when she called police.
