Queen Anne’s County Public Schools, in partnership with Leveling the Playing Field (LPF), Queen Anne’s County Parks & Recreation, Kent Island High School (KIHS), and the KIHS Honor Society, is proud to announce the placement of a new sports equipment donation bin at KIHS. This marks the first LPF donation bin on Maryland’s Eastern Shore.

The public is encouraged to donate new and gently used sports equipment, which will be redistributed to local schools, community programs, and youth sports organizations. The goal is to expand access to affordable recreation and reduce barriers caused by the rising costs of youth athletics.

Across the country, the privatization of youth sports has created a “pay to play” model that limits opportunities for many families. LPF collects and redistributes sports and playground equipment to programs in need. By reducing the financial burden of purchasing gear, youth programs can reallocate their funds toward transportation, healthy snacks, staff training, and expanded programming, helping more kids participate and thrive.

LPF accepts most sports equipment, including items for soccer, baseball, football, basketball, and lacrosse, along with general physical education and recess items. For a full list, visit the LPF website: https://www.levelingtheplayingfield.org/
