Queenstown Bank contributes $5,000 to Bosom Buddies Charities.
The bank has been a sponsor since the charity was founded in 2007 and the annual Bosom Buddies Ball became one of the most popular black-tie events on the Eastern Shore. This year Queenstown Bank is contributing $5,000 to the cause. Biana Arentz, co-chair of this year’s ball, says, “Tommy Rhodes and Queenstown Bank have been a major sponsor of the Bosom Buddies Ball from day one. We are so lucky to have local companies like Queenstown Bank that support our community in so many ways.”
The sixth annual Bosom Buddies Ball will be held at the Chesapeake Bay Beach Club on January 21, 2012. Proceeds will allow Bosom Buddies to continue to support programs at the Kent Island Breast Center. In just five years the group has provided a digital mammography machine and ultra-sound imaging equipment to the Anne Arundel Medical Center on Kent Island, funded the expansion of the Kent Island Breast Center and initiated monthly support group meetings for survivors.
The mission of the charity is to promote breast cancer awareness, encourage early detection, support treatment and celebrate healing. They have identified the need for a greater outreach Program for the population in the area and express gratitude to the many local companies and groups who help make their programs possible. They point out that Maryland’s age-adjusted breast cancer death rate is the fifth highest in the nation and the death rate in Queens Anne’s County is significantly higher than the national and Maryland average.
The Ball will include a great band, dancing, a delicious meal and an extraordinary auction. Tickets are available at www.bosombuddiesball@gmail.com or visit the website at bosombuddiescharities.com.
