Queenstown Man Charged in Murder of Queenstown Woman

Sheriff Gary Hofmann reports that deputies and EMS responded to 6147 Main Street, Queenstown for an unresponsive subject/sudden death. Units located the victim in a bedroom of the residence, and she was then transported to Grasonville Medical Center where she was pronounced dead. As the investigation proceeded, deputies learned from family members that they heard noises coming from the bedroom. When family members went to the bedroom door and called out to the victim, Armon Williams told them to go away. A few minutes later, Williams exited the bedroom, locked the door and left the area in the victim’s Nissan Sentra. A family member became concerned and forced open the door and found Janetta Lee unresponsive.

Deputies learned that the victim’s vehicle was at a residence on Wilson Road in Grasonville. While responding to that location, 911 calls came in advising that Williams was at that location and threatening anyone that arrived and also attempting to kill himself. There were other persons in the house including children and an elderly female.

Deputies and a MSP Trooper entered the house and found Williams in the kitchen bleeding from stab wounds to the chest and slices to his wrists. Williams continued to cut his wrists and told the deputies they were going to have to shoot him. As Williams approached the Deputies, he came in close contact with the elderly female and refused to drop the knife. Sgt. Kemple of the Sheriffs Officer deployed his electronic control device, dropping the subject. Williams was then handcuffed, and EMS personnel entered the residence to render aid.

Williams was released from the hospital and taken to the Sheriffs Headquarters for questioning. He was subsequently charged with 2nd degree murder and 1st degree assault.
