Egg Tempera, a painting technique that has been used for centuries, shows the beauty of the pigments off to great advantage. Colors are clear, bright, and pure. Learn about this technique on Thursday and Friday, December 11-12, from 9 am until 5pm, when Terry Wolf offers an Egg Tempera Workshop. The workshop, to be held at KidSPOT, next door to the RiverArts Gallery, 315 High Streeet, Suite 104, is open to artists of all levels, beginners through advanced.

The workshop will begin with a demonstration of essentials of working in egg tempera. Students will learn aspects of the medium, characteristics of powdered pigments, how to make fresh paint, and many ways of applying paint, including glazing and scumbling. Materials will be provided in the cost of the class including a book on painting Egg Tempera. A small list of additional materials students should bring (brushes, etc.) will be provided. The cost of the workshop is $270 for members and $335 for nonmembers.

Terry Wolf is a popular local artist whose subjects include the portraits, nudes, landscapes and seascapes. He is interested in both the expressive and illustrative aspects of painting. Terry states that he enjoys painting on both the Eastern Shore and in Maine, where he finds “a sameness of both places in the wildness, calmness, and appeal to the senses.”
