Chestertown RiverArts is nearing the first year anniversary of its move to its new gallery and is proud that it has become a vibrant community arts center. In this short time the new space was renovated into a beautiful, upscale gallery and gift shop and a dynamic program was implemented including eighteen exhibitions, eight special events, and dozens of classes for adults and young people.
As RiverArts has grown into this beautiful space and expanded its programs to meet diverse needs, it finds its presence in the community has also grown. The gallery is now open 6 days a week and its programs depend on more than 100 volunteers to run a non-profit business with a six-figure budget. Not surprisingly, a committee commissioned by the Board to develop a forward-looking business plan recognized the need to hire an Executive Director as a top priority. It is essential that RiverArts hires a dedicated, experienced person in a leadership role to help oversee the gallery and programs, to coordinate and provide direction to our invaluable volunteers and to help raise money.
If you are interested in getting more information about the Executive Director position or know someone else who is interested, please call (410-778-6300) or email (riverarts@verizon.net) to request a packet including an application and a detailed job description.
For those interested in this position, the full business plan can be found on the RiverArts website; chestertownriverarts.org. Visits to the gallery at 315 High Street, Suite 106, are encouraged: hours are Tuesday-Friday 11:00-4:00, First Fridays 11:00-8:00, Saturday 9:30-4:00 and Sunday noon- 3:00.
