The Narcotics Enforcement Team working from the sheriff’s office has delivered results so quickly that the mayor and council voted unanimously to sever ties with the state police drug task force. “When they were asked for assistance, the sheriff’s office stepped right up,” said Rock Hall Chief Steve Moore. The sheriff and the town have cooperated in several recent drug busts. Moore said he sent a letter notifying the state police that the town is withdrawing. The unanimous vote came at the workshop meeting after a lengthy closed session for “legal advice.” When the council came back into public session, Mayor Bob Willis said they decided to withdraw from the Maryland State Police drug task force and cooperate with the sheriff instead, and asked for a vote.
