Salisbury University Installs First Public Electric Vehicle Charging Stations to Celebrate Opening of New Perdue Hall

SemaConnect, a leading developer and producer of smart electric vehicle charging stations and sophisticated station owner and EV driver software, today announced the installation of its ChargePro Charging Station and expansion of its SemaCharge Network at Salisbury University’s new Perdue Hall in Salisbury, Md. A ceremony is being held at Salisbury University to inaugurate the new building with guest speakers including Governor Martin O’Malley, Delegate Norman H. Conway, SU President Janet Dudley-Eshbach and Perdue Farms Chairman Jim Perdue.

“Salisbury University is committing itself to sustainability and putting its students at the forefront of innovation. Students and staff have access to sophisticated yet simple charging stations and software that makes it easy to manage charging sessions. We look forward to installing more stations at commercial locations and universities throughout the nation to build the electric infrastructure that is needed to support electric vehicles and end our dependence on foreign oil, ” said Mahi Reddy, CEO of SemaConnect.

SemaConnect’s ChargePro Charging Stations are available to all electric vehicle drivers and commercial station owners. The EV charging stations are wirelessly networked into SemaConnect’s SemaCharge Network and deliver advanced features such as:

•Set Time-of-Use Pricing: designate a certain price for charging at allotted times at your discretion
•Sustainability Reporting: calculate your fossil fuel emissions and produce data for green reports
•Smart Grid Integration: seamlessly incorporate utility grade metering for accurate data collection
•Affordability: state-of-the-art technology at the most competitive price
“Salisbury University is committed to sustainability,” said Wayne Shelton, SU director of sustainability and environmental safety. “Installing SemaConnect’s ChargePro charging stations at Perdue Hall is the latest in our ongoing efforts to promote a greener campus. The new stations are just one example of the building’s environmentally-friendly design features, which also include daylight harvesting technology and, in one area, a geothermal climate control system that combine to help reduce energy use by some 24 percent.”
