On Friday, February 5, the Shore Health System Center for Cardio-Pulmonary Fitness and Wellness will host a fashion show to celebrate Go Red for Women Day. The event begins at 11:00 a.m. and will be held at the Immanuel United Church of Christ in Cambridge. The cost of the fashion show is $5, which includes a heart healthy lunch. All proceeds will be donated to the American Heart Association.
The fashion show models are Melissa Eigenbrode MSN, RN, RRT, and Melissa Linthicum, RN, RRT, nurses from the Cardio-Pulmonary Fitness and Wellness program at Dorchester General Hospital. They will be joined by Linda Easter, Audrey Jackson, Margie Elliott and Charlotte Hinkle, who participate in the cardio-pulmonary rehabilitation program. The models will be wearing outfits on loan from the Robin Hood Shop, a resale shop operated by the Auxiliary of Dorchester General Hospital.
Go Red for Women began in 2004 during February, which is American Heart Month. “The initiative was designed to raise awareness that heart disease is the number one killer of women,” says Sally Worm, RN, manager of Shore Health System’s Center for Cardio-Pulmonary Fitness and Wellness. “We came up with the idea of doing a fashion show as a way to have fun and to educate women in our own community about the importance of taking care of their heart heath.”
