Shore Health System Offers Pulmonary Function Testing

Shore Health System is partnering with the departments of health in Talbot and Dorchester counties to offer free pulmonary function testing in November. Testing is being offered during smoking cessation classes because smokers are at higher risk for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

Pulmonary function testing will be available on Tuesday, November 17 at noon and at 5:00 pm at the Talbot Partnership offices, 8 Goldsborough Street in Easton. The testing will be offered on Wednesday, November 18 at 10:00 am and at 5:00 pm at the Dorchester County Department of Health, 3 Cedar Street in Cambridge.

During the simple test, a person inhales and exhales into a spirometer, which records the amount and rate of air that is breathed in and out.
