Shore Regional Cancer Center and the Cancer Support Community-Delmarva are sponsoring “Cancer Transitions: Moving Beyond Treatment,” a free six-week workshop designed to help cancer survivors make the transition from active treatment to life after cancer.
The series begins on Wednesday, September 21 with “Get Back to Wellness: Take Control of Your Survivorship.” The program continues on September 28, October 5, October 12, October 19 and October 26. Each session will be held from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Shore Regional Cancer Center, 509 Idlewild Avenue in Easton.
“Cancer Transitions” will be facilitated by oncology social worker Pam Black, LCSW-C, OSW-C. Other topics to be covered include exercise for wellness; emotional health and well being; nutrition; medical management; and life beyond cancer.
A panel of nurses, nutritionists, clinical social workers and fitness experts will discuss exercise tailored to each participant’s abilities; training in relaxation and stress management; and tips for nutritious eating. Participants will leave the program with practical tools and resources they can use to formulate a personal action plan for living beyond the cancer experience.
Black says, “The Shore Regional Cancer Program is providing this workshop as part of our emphasis on cancer survivorship. We know that patients benefit when they get important and useful information about self-care when they complete their treatment.”
