Shore Kids Camp Offers Youth with Diabetes, Asthma Education and Fun in Camp Setting

Shore Health System recently held its annual Shore Kids Camp for children who have diabetes and asthma. The day camp was held at the MEBA Engineering School in Easton from July 23 through July 27.

Designed for children ages seven through 12, Shore Kids Camp provides an entertaining and educational experience that includes group games, swimming, and arts and crafts activities. The children were supervised by trained counselors along with volunteers from the medical community.

“This is a great way for kids with diabetes and asthma to get together and have a fun camp experience while learning how to better manage their day to day medical needs,” says Wynne Aroom, RN, CDE, patient education specialist for Shore Health System. “By the end of the week, the kids gained knowledge about their medical conditions and made some new friendships in the process.”
