Nearly 150 horses have been taken from a farm on Maryland’s Eastern Shore after they were found to be malnourished. The horses were seized from Canterbury Farms in Centreville and are scheduled to be taken to other farms where they will be fed and given veterinary care. The director of the Queen Anne’s County animal services department, David MacGlashan, says the owner was a longtime breeder who had fallen on hard times and could not continue to care for the animals. MacGlashan says the state’s attorney’s office is considering bringing criminal charges. Nursing the animals back to health could cost more than $1-million.
