Silver Linings Announces Partnership with New Oyster House Project

Oyster (400 x 400)Silver Linings, a sterling silver and gemstone jewelry store with locations in St. Michaels and Easton, is proud to announce a partnership with the new Oyster House Project on Tilghman Island.

For every sterling silver Oyster & Crab Pendant and Pin/Pendant Silver Linings sells, $20 will be donated to the New Oyster House initiative of the Phillips Wharf Environmental Center (PWEC). PWEC is currently in the fundraising stages to purchase the Harrison Oyster Company Building to create an educational center to bring together watermen, conservationists and the community to develop an economically and environmentally sustainable oyster industry on the Shore.

Oysters are crucial to the health and cleanliness of the Chesapeake Bay. These filter feeders serve as “vacuum cleaners” for the Bay’s entire aquatic ecosystem — a single oyster can filter over 50 gallons of water per day. The abundance of oysters in local bodies of water is important to both the ecology and economy of the Eastern Shore.

“I am so proud to be supporting this wonderful initiative at the ground level,” comments Aida Leisure, owner of Silver Linings in Easton and St. Michaels. “This is a ‘home-grown’ project that brings together our watermen and conservation advocates and provides a forum for the entire community to protect an important tradition, industry, and natural resource.”

“We are so thankful to be partnering with Silver Linings and being the beneficiary of this generous contribution,” shared Kelley Cox, founder and executive director of Phillips Wharf Environmental Center. “We have great plans for the Oyster House Project and hope that this beautiful piece of jewelry will raise awareness to the significant role oysters play in our heritage, ecosystem and economy.”

The beautifully detailed sterling silver Oyster & Crab Pendant and Pin/Pendant features a 14k gold vermeil crab and hidden bale. The pendent retails for $85, while the larger pin/pendant retails for $145. The $20 donation program will continue through October. The Oyster & Crab Pendant or Pin/Pendant may be purchased at Silver Linings’ retail stores or online at
