On May 28, 2026, six Queen Anne’s County Public Schools were recognized by the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) as 2026-2028 Purple Star Schools, recognizing strong services and support for students from military families.

To earn the designation, schools must have a dedicated military liaison, provide accessible digital resources, offer a student-led transition program, and ensure staff receive training on the unique needs of military families. This year’s Purple Star Schools from QACPS include: Kent Island High School, Queen Anne’s County High School, Centreville Middle School, Matapeake Middle School, Stevensville Middle School, and Sudlersville Middle School.

On this impressive accomplishment, Dr. Matthew Kibler, QACPS Superintendent stated, “I am incredibly proud of these six schools for earning this designation. I extend my sincere thanks to our military liaisons and Career Coaches, whose dedication and commitment continue to make a meaningful difference for our military families.”

In acknowledging the achievement, Dr. Carey M. Wright, State Superintendent of Schools stated, “Our Purple Star Schools excel in serving the unique needs of our military-connected students and families. These school communities create welcoming environments, fostering a sense of support and belonging that provides the foundation for student success.”

In total, 27 schools from seven school systems throughout the State of Maryland were recognized. QACPS proudly congratulates all 27 designees and extends a special thank you to our outstanding staff, whose tireless dedication continues to make Queen Anne’s County Public Schools a leader in the state.
