Discover the famous historic towns located in Queen Anne’s County, gateway to Maryland’s Eastern Shore. Queen Anne’s County is filled with colonial history, maritime villages, museums and art galleries. Antique shops, boutiques and cultural opportunities are abundant.

Start your day at the Chesapeake Exploration Center, the county visitor’s center, getting acquainted with the area and enjoying the view.

Begin in Historic Stevensville a town that boasts working art studios/galleries offering a selection of fine art, basketry, pottery, stained glass, jewelry, painted furniture and other handcrafted gifts of distinction. Stroll through the town and visit the Stevensville Train Depot (c. 1902) and Caboose (c. 1929), Christ Church (c. 1880), original Post Office (c. 1860) and Bank Building.

Special group arrangements are available at many area establishments for lunch.

Then, it’s off to Centreville, the county seat of Queen Anne’s County. History is reflected in the diverse architecture seen along the streets of the town—elegant Victorian homes with their wrap-around porches, neo-classical public buildings, late-19th-century commercial rows, late-20th-century institutional and government structures, and all the variations and curiosities in between. Wright’s Chance (c. 1744) and Tucker House (c. 1792) are superb examples of colonial architecture and are filled with period furnishings and treasures. Walk to the Court Square and view the County Courthouse, Maryland’s oldest courthouse in continuous use since 1792. Located there is a bronze statue of Queen Anne dedicated by Her Royal Highness Princess Anne and is the only known statue of the Queen outside of Britain.
