On Saturday, November 21st from 10 AM until Noon, the Sudlersville Youth Group will
be conducting a Thanksgiving food drive at Calvary-Asbury United Methodist Church,
which houses the Sudlersville Food Pantry. The food pantry is the only one that serves
residents of Northern Queen Anne’s County. It provides food packages to 45 families on
a monthly basis. During the holidays, the demand increases and over 70 families are
served.
For many years now, the youth group has taken on the responsibility of conducting the
Thanksgiving Food Drive as a local mission project to benefit the food pantry. Items that
are collected are used to provide an additional Thanksgiving food basket, in addition to
the regular November food package. Families receive a turkey and all the fixings to go
with a traditional Thanksgiving meal. The cost of this project is over $1600.00, in
addition to the monthly food expenses the food pantry incurs throughout the year.
You can help by providing any of the following items: frozen turkey, stuffing, gravy,
instant potato, canned sweet potatoes, canned green beans, cranberry sauce, rolls, or
apple or pumpkin pie. Any additional non-perishable items will help keep the food pantry
stocked through the holiday season. These items may be dropped off on Saturday,
November 21st between 10 AM and Noon. Cash donations are welcome in lieu of food
items. Checks can be made payable to “Sudlersville Food Pantry” and mailed to PO Box
202, Sudlersville, MD 21668. All donations are welcome. The Sudlersville Youth Group
appreciates your support.
