A scrumptious island buffet, live and silent auctions and a memorable sunset are just a few of the highlights planned for Hospice of Queen Anne’s 2011 Sunset Celebration set for Oct. 1, from 5-9 p.m. at the Kent Island Yacht Club. Now in its fifth year, the event is an Eastern Shore favorite with its relaxed, waterfront setting during a beautiful time of year.
“The Sunset Celebration has all of the fun and excitement of a black tie gala but without the tuxedos and gowns,” said Kenda Leager, development officer for Hospice of Queen Anne’s.
“People look forward to this event all year, where they can be relaxed and casual and have a great time for a great cause,” she added.
In addition to the island buffet dinner and cocktails, the event features many exciting items in the live and silent auctions, a Chinese raffle, giving trees and music by Al Wysong.
Because of generous community support, Hospice of Queen Anne’s continues to provide the highest quality, professional and compassionate care for patients with advancing life-limiting illnesses and support for their families during and after their loved one has died. Care is given based solely on need, regardless of a person’s ability to pay. Continued community support has made it possible for Hospice of Queen Anne’s to cover unfunded room and board expenses in the Residential Hospice Center, which amounted to $201,192 in 2010.
