The Queen Anne’s County Arts Council’s “Afternoon Tea in a Winter Wonderland” is a unique fundraiser to this region. This popular event returns with a delightful afternoon of tea and traditional high tea finger foods at the Centre as part of their “Small Works: Exhibition and Raffle” fundraising effort. The event includes an occasion card table with Creative Memories consultant Cathy Downes for those who are feeling crafty, and a festive hat contest. Wear a unique handmade or purchased hat for a chance to win a prize. Two Small Works raffle tickets are included in the event cost.
There is limited seating available and advance registration is required on or before February 8. The cost is $25 for Queen Anne’s County Arts Council members and $30 for nonmembers. The tea is on Saturday, February 16 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Center for the Arts in downtown Centreville.
The quality and variety of the Small Works exhibit is a must see and includes area artists and artistsans from around the country. Porcelain, clay, oils, watercolors, jewelry, textiles, mixed media, and photography are all on display as part of the raffle experience through February 23, 2013.
A number of activities are scheduled during the exhibition, including special classes and a closing drawing event. Proceeds benefit the Arts Council and event sponsors include The Palate Pleasers, Freestate & Son, Este’s Edibles, Kingstown Farm, Garden and Home and G&G Distributors Inc., The Centre also receives support through a grant from the Maryland State Arts Council.
