Pumpkin bowling and Centreville Idol top new features at Centreville Day on October 25
The Queen Anne’s County Court House green will be transformed into a fun zone for families on Saturday, October 25, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. as the town hosts the fourth annual Centreville Day. The event will be held on Lawyers Row and the Court House green. Admission for this family day is free. Food will be sold and some games or activities may have a fee to support local organizations. The rain date is October 26.
A new feature to this year’s event will be an interactive Kids Zone on the Court House lawn facing Liberty Street. Here kids can try their hand at pumpkin bowling, hosted by Day Care Inc., pumpkin painting, hosted by the Gunston School as well as enjoy an anti-bullying puppet show, presented by the ARC of the Central Chesapeake Region Eastern Shore, a library story time, presented by the Queen Anne’s County Library, and corn hole free play.
If that’s not entertaining enough Centreville Day event goers can watch their friends and neighbors compete in the first-ever Centreville Day Idol contest and the second annual “Great Centreville Cookie” contest.
Other event features include:
- Announcement of winners for a scarecrow decorating contest, organized by the Queen Anne’s County Arts Council.
- Face painting, sponsored by The Kent School.
- A moon bounce, sponsored by the Queen Anne’s County YMCA.
- A historical scavenger hunt, coordinated by the Queen Anne’s County Historical Society.
- A mini-greenhouse project where participants will sow winter seeds.

- Games and activities, organized by local non-profits, civic groups, and businesses.
“The Centreville Day Steering Committee has been meeting since June and has done an amazing job of putting together diverse and interesting activities for the whole family,” says Carol D’Agostino, Centreville Main Street manager. “This year’s event will be preceded by a special U.S. Army honors ceremony coordinated by Mary Margaret Goodwin, featuring the West Point Drill Team so you’ll want to get downtown early and stay for both events,” she adds. The special ceremony and presentation will take place on Broadway from 10 to 11 a.m.
