Quality Health Foundation Presents $350,000 in Grant Awards

~QHF has given $2.65 million to 45 organizations since 2006

Quality Health Foundation (QHF)—the mission arm of Quality Health Strategies (QHS)—recently presented grant award checks to organizations funded for Fiscal Year 2014. Brenda L. Crabbs, QHF Board Chair, and Dr. Roger C. Merrill, QHS Board Chair and QHF Board Member, presented the checks and certificates to ten recipients during an event held at the company’s Easton office on Centreville Road. Dr. Fredia Wadley, QHS CEO and President, also spoke on behalf of the parent organization.

Those receiving awards include: Access Carroll Inc., Channel Marker, Inc., Dragonfly Heart Camp, Frederick County Hepatitis Clinic Inc., Help and Outreach Point of Entry, Hope Connections for Cancer Support, Light House of Annapolis, Maryland Foundation of Dentistry for the Handicapped, Partners in Care, Maryland, and Shepherd’s Clinic. Several of the recipients have been awarded grants in previous years. Of the ten awards, three are new programs and two of the three new grantees are Easton-based.

Since 2006, QHF has distributed $2.65 million to 47 organizations dedicated to improving healthcare for individuals and communities through measurable outcome improvement projects. The grants—of up to $50,000—are awarded for one year with the potential for additional awards in subsequent years. Funds are distributed on a quarterly basis and quarterly reports must be approved before QHF distributes the funds.

QHF provided light refreshments during a reception where recipients were encouraged to network with each other. That was followed by presentations by Mrs. Crabbs and Dr. Merrill, where each organization described its mission and how they would use the funds. In order to be eligible, applicants must be located in Maryland or Washington, DC.

“All of you work every day to improve access to healthcare for your respective communities,” commented Mrs. Crabbs. “Your efforts lead to an improved quality of life for the underserved. We are pleased to be able to assist your work with a grant that provides help and hope to so many.”

“I am here on behalf of the more than 400 hard-working people of QHS,” said Dr. Wadley. “They are dedicated to their mission to improve health services and programs and are proud to provide QHF with the funds to share their passion for helping those that need it most.”
