The 2014 Chesapeake Chamber Music Gala, “All That Jazz,” will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2014, beginning at 6 p.m. at the Avalon Theatre in Easton, MD. The Gala will begin with a concert headlined by international award-winning jazz vocalist, Caterina Zapponi, and her ensemble.  Zapponi, a talented cabaret singer and the wife of legendary jazz pianist Monte Alexander, has performed music ranging from jazz and American popular song to cabaret and musical theater at prestigious venues, including New York’s Birdland and The Blue Note, and internationally at the Verbier and Saint Barthelemy festivals. She also performed “A Song For You” in the film “For the Love of the Game” with Kevin Costner.

The Chesapeake Chamber Music Gala is underwritten by Wye Financial & Trust, in partnership with Gilman Hill Asset Management. The Gala benefits the free and subsidized tickets provided during the annual two-week Chesapeake Chamber Music Festival in June, as well as YouthReach, and the free violin programs, “First Strings” and “Presto!” for grade school students. Chesapeake Chamber Music Gala Hits a High Note with Andrew Lloyd Webber

ccm (400 x 120)Chesapeake Chamber Music’s Gala hit a high note this year with its concert at the Avalon Theatre, featuring Capital Steps pianist Howard Breitbart and vocalists Madeline Botteri and Evan Casey. The Gala continued at the Tidewater Inn with cocktails, dinner, and both silent and live auctions. The Gala is underwritten by Wye Financial & Trust. Proceeds from the Gala benefit the free and subsidized tickets provided during the annual two-week CCM Festival each June, free community concerts, YouthReach, and the free violin programs, First Strings and Presto!, for grade school students. The theme of this year’s event was Music of the Night: An Evening with Andrew Lloyd Webber. It included a cocktail party, dinner and live and silent auctions at the historic Tidewater Inn. “We have supported the Chesapeake Chamber Music Gala for over five years now”, comments Beth Spurry, Senior Vice President of Wye Financial & Trust. “It’s an exceptional event and the proceeds do so much to benefit the advancement of the arts in our community.”

 

2013 Chesapeake Chamber Music Gala to Feature Music of the Night: An Evening with Andrew Lloyd Webber

CCM 2012 Gala Artwork (400 x 577)Chesapeake Chamber Music’s 2013 Gala, “Music of the Night: An Evening with Andrew Lloyd Webber,” will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2013. The Chesapeake Chamber Music (CCM) Gala begins at 6 p.m. with a concert at the Avalon Theatre, followed by a cocktail party, dinner and live and silent auctions at the historic Tidewater Inn in Easton, MD. Howard Breitbart, a pianist with the Capital Steps, will be producing and performing a musical evening filled with favorite tunes from Andrew Lloyd Webber musicals such as “Cats,” “Phantom of the Opera,” and “Starlight Express,” among others.

Breitbart will be accompanied by two vocalists, soprano Madeline Botteri and Washington’s renowned tenor Casey Evans. Madeline Botteri has performed at the Signature Theatre, Keegan Theatre, and Kensington Arts Theatre. Casey Evans has worked as an actor and singer for over a decade, performing at The Kennedy Center, Ford’s Theatre, Shakespeare Theatre Company, Signature Theatre, Round House Theatre, Olney Theatre Center, Studio Theatre 2nd Stage, Rep Stage, and Imagination Stage, among others. His work on DC’s stages has garnered him two Helen Hayes Award nominations.

Following the concert at the Avalon, the Gala will move to the Tidewater Inn, beginning with a cocktail party featuring a variety of hors d’oeuvres, a dinner highlighting selections from the Bay, and a live and silent auction. In addition to individual Silent Auction items and sign ups, an Art Gallery, and “Fund a Need” opportunities for CCM Outreach, there will be five Live Auction offerings. These include the signature painting chosen for the 2013 Gala and Festival, “Global Village (#24),” painted by local artist, Barbara Parker. The “Harbor Cities Duet” trip includes a four-night, two-city tour of Seattle, WA and Victoria, BC, with lodging in the 5 diamond Fairmont Olympic Hotel in Seattle and the historic Fairmont Empress Hotel on the harbor in Victoria (air travel and ferry included). The “Fighter Pilot for a Day” provides a Top Gun experience for one. A four-day, five-night getaway for two to Whistler, British Columbia, home of the 2010 Winter Olympics, includes stays at the fabulous Fairmont Chateau Whistler (air travel and transfers included). Finally, the four-night stay for up to two couples in an historic vacation cottage in the heart of this historic whaling village on Gardiners Bay offers the opportunity to explore Sag Harbor, Long Island, NY.

The Gala is underwritten by Wye Financial and Trust and is chaired by Courtney Kane. Proceeds from the Gala benefit the free and subsidized tickets provided during the annual two-week CCM Festival each June, free community concerts, Youthreach, the free violin programs, First Strings and Presto! for grade school students.
