Local Golf Tournament Scores a Hole-in-One

On Friday, June 22, 2012, nearly 80 participants came out to Queenstown Harbor Golf Links to support the 2nd Annual UQA Football and QA Baseball Golf Tournament. Money raised will go towards helping the organizations pay for team uniforms, player participation awards, dugouts, umpires and refs, field maintenance and coaching materials. The tournament directors and the presidents of both leagues were overwhelmed with the community response this year and look forward to many years to come.

The winners this year were:

HQA’s Charity Golf Tournament to Offer Two Tee Times

If 18 holes is more golfing than you want, then the Hospice of Queen Anne’s 15th Annual Tournament is just right for you! This year’s event, to be held on May 7 at Prospect Bay in Grasonville, offers two tee times: 9-hole beginning at 9 a.m. and 18-hole beginning at 1 p.m.

“We will have breakfast and lunch for our morning golfers and lunch and dinner for our afternoon golfers with snacks and beverages along the course,” said Kenda Leager, HQA development officer. To accommodate the two tee times, there will be two separate awards programs.

For those who would rather not participate in golfing but still want to contribute to Hospice of Queen Anne’s, numerous sponsorship opportunities exist ranging from a $100 Hole Sponsor to a $5,000 Tournament Sponsor.

“HQA is fortunate to have generous community support allowing us to continue to provide the highest quality professional and compassionate care for patients with advancing life-limiting illnesses,” said Heather Guerieri, HQA executive director.

“Contributing to hospice events, such as the golf tournament helps ensure that everyone who needs hospice care or support for loss and grief will be able to receive it,” she said.

It is not too early to form your team and get ready to join Hospice of Queen Anne’s for a day of fun on the greens at Prospect Bay on May 7. Sponsorship and registration information may be downloaded at www.hospiceofqueenannes.org and click on “Annual Golf Tournament.” Or, contact Kenda Leager at 443-262-4106 orkleager@hospiceofqueenannes.org.
