League of Women Voters of Queen Anne’s County

The League of Women Voters of Queen Anne’s County, based in Centreville, MD, recently celebrated its 7th Anniversary and also the 90th Birthday for the League of Women Voters of the US.

In 1920, Carrie Chapman Catt first proposed a League of Women Voters to “finish the fight” and work to end all discrimination against women.

Preview of 2010 General Assembly

The Leagues of Women Voters of Kent and Queen Anne’s Counties invite the citizens of Cecil, Kent, and Queen Anne’s Counties to a preview of the 2010 Maryland General Assembly.

The Legislative Preview will feature members of our 36th District Delegation: Senator E. J. Pipkin, Delegate Michael Smigiel, Delegate Richard Sossi, and Delegate Mary Roe Walkup.  It will be held Monday, December 7, 2007, 7 PM at the Queen Anne’s County Free Library at 121 S. Commerce St., Centreville.

Each of the legislators will give an overview of his or her view on important issues  confronting the 2010 General Assembly which convenes on Wednesday, January 13, 2009.

The audience will be invited to ask questions of the delegation.  This is the public’s opportunity to share concerns, ask questions, and hear about priorities of the 2010 legislative session and its impact on our counties.

This forum is free and open to the public.  The League of Women Voters is a nonpartisan political organization whose mission is to encourage the informed and active participation of citizens in their government and to increase understanding of major public policy issues.
