The Dorchester General Hospital Auxiliary is now accepting applications for nursing scholarships. The Auxiliary’s Nursing Grant Fund provides financial assistance to qualified individuals who are studying for a nursing career.
Donations from the DGH Auxiliary volunteers and from the Dorchester Ruritan Club and Elk’s Lodge 1272 in Cambridge will be used to fund at least three $1,000 grants. The Auxiliary’s Nursing Grant Committee reviews applications and selects grantees based on financial need, grades, work experience, a letter of recommendation and the applicant’s written essay.
Qualified applicants must have completed their pre-requisites for a two-year nursing program or have completed their first year of a four-year undergraduate nursing program. They also must have a 2.9 or better grade point average.
Application forms are available at the Dorchester General Hospital Hospitality Shop, 300 Byrn Street, Cambridge. Students who have previously been awarded grants from the Auxiliary are welcome to re-apply.
Submit applications by Friday, May 27 to Debbie Thomas, 304 Academy Street, Unit 201, Cambridge, Maryland 21613. Transcripts must be mailed to the same address in a sealed envelope from the college or university by Friday, June 10.
For more information about submitting an application and for making a donation to the DGH Auxiliary’s Nursing Grant Fund, call Debbie Thomas, 410-228-6131.
