60-Saturday Adoption Promotion

The Queen Anne’s County Department of Animal Services will holding a 60-Saturday Adoption Promotion on Saturday, January 12, 2013. Any animal that has been at the shelter for over 60 days will have a reduced adoption fee. Dogs will be available for adoption for $60 and cat adoptions will be $6 off.

All animals are spayed-neutered, tested for heartworm (dogs), wormed, have received rabies vaccination, DHLPP vaccination (dogs), Bordetella (dogs), and include microchip and registration for dogs. Adoptable animals can be seen online at queenannesanimalservices.com/find-a-pet.

The Queen Anne’s County Department of Animal Services was established to provide safety for the public, to ensure the humane care and treatment of all animals and to encourage responsible pet ownership. Staff find new homes for stray and unwanted animals, reuniting lost animals with their owners and care for sick and injured animals.

Queen Anne’s County Department of Animal Services Competes In Shelter Challenge

The Queen Anne’s County Department of Animal Services is competing with other local and national shelters to win grants ranging from $1,000 to $5,000 dollars in The Animal Rescue Site Shelter Challenge of 2012. The grand prize is a $5,000 grant, and they will be awarding many other grants to rescue groups with the most votes — a total of $300,000 in grants for animal welfare organizations in 2012.

Queen Anne’s County is currently in the top ten in the state of Maryland, a number one spot will win the shelter $1,000.

Animal Services Holiday Open House

The Queen Anne’s County Department of Animal Services is holding a Holiday Open House on Saturday, December 11, 2010 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the shelter on Route 301.

The event will offer pet photos with Santa, a bake sale featuring yummy treats for people and pets and a silent auction featuring gift baskets from local businesses. Visitors may also come in and take a look at the pets available for adoption.
