OLD BAG LUNCHEON TO SUPPORT MENTAL HEALTH GRANTS
Enjoy an afternoon of fun, food, and entertainment at the Queen Anne’s County Mental Health Committee’s Old Bag Luncheon fundraiser on Friday, September 12, from 11:30 am to 3 pm at the Prospect Bay Country Club. The event will include live and silent auction items of new and gently used designer purses, as well as other bags filled with items and gift certificates donated by local businesses. Tickets for the luncheon are $40 per person and can be purchased online at QACMHC.org or by sending a check to QACMHC, P.O. Box 183, Queenstown, MD 21638
The proceeds of the event will support the organization’s efforts to support those members of our community who need assistance coping with mental illness. In the 1970s, Mrs. Orsen Neilsen, concerned about the plight of the mentally ill, gathered a group of citizens to raise funds to meet this overwhelming need. It is in this spirit that the current Mental Health Committee, a group of dedicated volunteers, continues to raise funds to help provide and enhance services. Since that time the organization has raised over $300,000. Last year, grants were awarded to the QAC Healthy Families Program, the QAC Nuturing Program, Crossroads Community, Corsica River Mental Health, QAC Child Abuse Response and Evaluation Center, and Haven Ministries.
