Saturday, April 28, 2012 (only) – Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) & Mercury Thermometer Collection, NEW: Latex Paint Recycling – & Electronics Recycling Events (eCycle), Q.A. County Public Works, 312 Safety Dr., Centreville, 8 to 2, Rain or Shine, free, Caroline, Kent, QA & Talbot residents. Directions: From 213/301 intersection take Rte 301 N, right onto Rte 304 E (truck stop), go 0.1 miles then left onto Safety Drive. HHW: ACCEPTED (only residential wastes): Gas, Gas/Oil Mixes, Pool Chemicals, Cleaners, Solvents, Oil-Based Paints, Paint thinners, Lawn & Garden Pesticides, and usable paint for new pilot latex paint recycling project. UNACCEPTABLE: Industrial, Business, Commercial Agricultural materials, ammunition, radioactive, explosives, and medical waste, other.

Next collection event planned for Fall 2012 in Talbot County.

Take MD-328 East/Matthewstown Rd
Stay straight at light at the intersection with Business 404 (Meetinghouse Road) to Denton (do not take Business 404/Meetinghouse Road)
Proceed to next light and turn right onto 404 East (Denton bypass)
Follow from #3 in directions above (next right will be 619 South/6th St)
From Centreville area:
Take 213 South
Take 309 East

Pre-arrange large loads. Empty fuel containers returned upon request. Staff will unload vehicles.

Directions: Rt 213 to Rt 291 to Rt 20 W from Chestertown toward Rock Hall, Right on Earl Nicholson Rd, Left at gate. Free Mid-Shore Household Chemical Disposal and Electronics Recycling Day

Clean out the attic, the garage, the basement and the spare bedroom and get ready for the Midshore Regional Recycling Program’s spring event on Saturday, April 24. This year’s location is in the parking lot of the Queen Anne’s County Department of Public Works near Centreville. The event will be from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., rain or shine.

Once again residents of Queen Anne’s, Kent, Caroline and Talbot Counties may bring their household hazardous waste for proper disposal and consumer electronics for recycling to the Centreville location. There is no charge for dropping off material for this one day only event, but residents are asked to pre-arrange for large loads.

Explosives, ammunition, medical waste, radioactive materials, picric acid, compressed gas cylinders, asbestos, smoke detectors, business, industrial or commercial farm wastes, appliances of any size, power tools and latex paint will not be accepted at this site on April 24. Latex paint should be reused or solidified with an absorbent such as kitty litter, dirt or mulch and disposed in the regular trash.

This event is sponsored by the Midshore Regional Recycling Program, which includes Queen Anne’s, Kent, Caroline and Talbot counties, and a Maryland Department of the Environment “eCycle” grant.
