The Queen Anne’s County Department of Health, Area Agency on Aging and University of Maryland Shore Regional Health have worked together to bring behavioral health medication consultation to physicians and other providers.

Citizens of Queen Anne’s County, ages 60 and older can now talk to a specialist about their behavioral health medications. The Behavioral Health Medication Management program has been created to make specialized behavioral health medication consultation available through the county’s Senior Wellness Program.

Patients may be eligible to have a psychiatric medication consultation with Dr. Eric Anderson, M.D. who has geriatric psychiatry experience. Dr. Anderson’s recommendations will be conveyed to the patient’s primary care physician. Dr. Anderson is Board Certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He currently serves as Medical Director for University of Maryland Shore Behavioral Health.

Those interested in a consultation with Dr. Anderson may call 410-758-0720 ext. 4505 and speak with Bobbi Graef, certified registered nurse practitioner. If a referral to the Senior Wellness Consultation Service would be helpful, she will assist in making the arrangements.

The goals of the Senior Wellness Program include providing citizens an opportunity to improve and take charge of their health allowing them to maintain an optimal level of independence. The program informs citizens of the importance of preventive care and health maintenance, as well as educating them on home safety issues and the importance of a healthy diet.

Additionally, one day each week, on Tuesdays, a nurse practitioner is available by appointment at Queen Anne’s County Senior Centers to discuss health concerns, review medications, and perform limited health assessments and even communicate with participants’ physicians if needed.
