The Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum (CBMM) in St. Michaels, MD is offering two, three-day trailboard carving workshops June 22-24 and July 20-22 with craftsman John T. Garlick.
Garlick will teach participants the techniques and artistry of Chesapeake trailboard carving while helping students develop the concepts and skills needed to make their own unvarnished signboard. Among other projects, Garlick has created carved pieces for Pride of Baltimore II, Lady Maryland, and the Mildred Belle.
Session one is June 22 from 6-9pm, June 23 from 9am-5pm, and June 24 from 9am-3pm. Session two is July 20 from 6-9pm, July 21 from 9am-5pm, and July 22 from 9am-3pm. The cost per three-session workshop is $40 for CBMM members and $50 for non-members. Children ages 12 and up are welcome to register with an adult chaperone.
