On Saturday, September 21st we are bringing together 2 rival schools for a great cause! We will be having a family fun day to raise awareness and funds for a Kent Island high school alum who is suffering from Transverse Myelitis. Melissa Marie Smith is a 29 years old woman whom was fortunate enough to beat Hodgkin’s Lymphoma twice but is now victim of a rare disease which has left her paralyzed from the chest down. Our goal is to raise funds that will be used for a down payment on a wheelchair accessible home which will help eliminate some major day to day struggles.
*We have gained interest from Kent Island and Queen Anne’s high schools as a focal point for promoting the event. The event name is “Unity for Immunity” because we are bringing together two rival football teams to assist in ticket sales and volunteering at our event. This is a great way to bring together the young people of our community to work together and help out a very deserving woman.
