Governor’s Challenge High School Basketball Tournament

For years, the Wicomico Youth & Civic Center has brought high school boys basketball players together to compete on the hardwood over the holiday break. In 2010, a unique spin was put on the event as Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley issued a challenge to Delaware Governor Jack Markell. The inaugural Governor’s Challenge Basketball Tournament was born bringing with it a new level of excitement to this holiday basketball classic.

This year, 37 teams will be hitting the court at the Wicomico Youth & Civic Center on Wednesday, December 26, 2012. Games will begin at 2pm on the 26th and go on through the day on Saturday, December 29.

This year’s event will also feature a Dr. Pepper Slam Dunk Contest and 3-Point Shootout on December 27.

Advanced Tournament Passes are on sale now for $30 for adults, $15 for youth (ages 11-18), children under 11 are free. Daily Admission passes will also be sold at the gate each day for $10 for adults, $5 for youth (ages 11-18) children under 11 are free.

The Poodles Are Coming!

The 80th Annual Poodle Club of America National Specialty Dog Show will be held Monday, April 23rd – Friday, April 27th, 2012 at the Wicomico Youth & Civic Center’s Normandy Arena at 500 Glen Avenue in Salisbury, MD.

See a Show This February at the Wicomico Youth & Civic Center!

The last full month of winter is upon us on Delmarva! The Wicomico Youth & Civic Center has plenty of events on the calendar this month to keep you busy! Tickets are still available for the Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey’s Barnum Bash this Thursday – Sunday! Later this month, the Civic Center will welcome Eric Church’s Blood, Sweat & Beers Tour on February 17 and the Harlem Globetrotters on February 28. Looking to spruce up your home for Spring? Eastern Shore Classic Dog Show

The show will run from 8:30am to 4:30pm daily and includes breed, obedience and rally as well as a daily award for Best in Show. Additional attractions of the weekend include raffles and over 40 vendors selling dog related gifts, supplies and equipment. A variety of Health Clinics will also be offered on Saturday, November 13 and Sunday, November 14. Clinic topics include cardiac, BAER, eye and Microchip. Monster Truck Winter Nationals and Thrill Show

Bigfoot, the King of Monster Trucks, is coming to the Wicomico Youth & Civic Center for the Monster Truck Winter Nationals. Bigfoot and the nation’s top Monster Trucks will drive into the Wicomico Youth & Civic Center on Friday, January 29 and Saturday, January 30 for three performances starting Friday at 7:30 p.m. and continuing on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

This year’s Monster Truck Winter Nationals offers something for everyone with its show stopper ingredients. Get’erDone, Crushstation, War Eagle, Havoc and Viper join Big Foot in the arena for side by side racing and freestyle contests.

Bingomania

Be the first to shout bingo at Bingomania, which returns to the Wicomico Youth & Civic Center on Saturday, November 21. Doors open at 5:00 pm for early bird games and regular games begin at 7:30 pm. Admission to Bingomania includes all regular and special games, including the Jumbo Jackpot Game. Regular games offer a $500 prize while special games pay out $1000.

The Jumbo Jackpot Game pays a maximum $10,000. Increase your chances of winning and help the Maryland Food Bank at the same time by bringing three non-perishable food items to the game. Those that do will receive 3 additional cards for the first early bird game, which has a payout of $500.
